Artist's Comments

Well, this is the outcome of a month or so experimenting.
It's nothing special I know, esp considering the amount of time put into it, but I liked the outcome and I hope you can appreciate it too =)

This is also my first proper play with snow textures and a few other texture settings so please go easy, heh =)

Info:
Terragen, Photoshop for colour correction, bordering, stars and moon.

Sorry for the lame title, but I couldn't think straight =\

thanks for remembering to tell me you submitted..........

anyway, not to worry... I know this is an "experiment" so i guess i have the time to tell you the things that dont work well....

The star field is far too brief and if thats a planet in the distance, why is there shadow on the side thats actually recieving the light? :D

Besides the sky, the render is absolutely gorgeous bud, seriously sweet detail, well done

Love the surreal pieces. This is has a very nice compositional balance. Great job!

Artists can color the sky red because they know its blue; the rest of us must color the sky as it really is or others might think we're stupid.

Love the idea and the experimentation...I think your technical skills have really gone up a notch, even if as psamtik said, there might be some compositional issues. I never would've caught the light thing (I'm still not sure about that, looks good to me!), but there's something to be said (at least in this case) about the reflection in the water being TOO sharp and precise. I know it's toned down and blurred a tad, but it looks way too "real" if that makes any sense.

I like how you made the snow so smooth, good job!

Whoah this is spectacular ! :D The only thing I miss in your art is living things, it makes me fell like I'm on some deserted planet ... BTW the water reflection is a bit too perfect to be realistic ...
:icontigaer:
excellent job on the atmosphere here. i don't mean the technical terragen atmosphere... i mean the look, feeling that comes over while looking at this pic. it's one of these pics that makes me want to be out there in space - that makes me want to see the secrets of universe. all the beautiful nebulas or galaxies. alien planets and their landscape... their nature. exactly :) - as you said it's not the super spectacular piece... but it has the right message and opens, at least, my eyes and mind :) that's a fav

OH yea saw this ON ashundar before so yep it looks nicer with the moon. :D Seems you like to use the water for the mirror effect alot but its producing some stunning results...once again, nice job.
